2nd 747 aircraft has arrived in Brussels

On Saturday, November 10 the second Cargo B Boeing 747 full freighter with registration OO-CBB landed at Brussels Airport.

Picture shows the 2 freighters brotherly together.

Subject to government approval, the aircraft is ready for action by the end of this month.








































First Cargo B flight in Johannesburg, SA

Sunday 14 October 2007 marked the first fully loaded Cargo B freighter flight to Libreville and Johannesburg.

Cargo B´s dedicated truck







Jan de Rijk is Cargo B´s preferred trucking company in Europe. The first truck in Cargo B colours arrived at Brucargo recently and was immediately taken "under shot". The truck has a cooling compartment, especially for the transport of flowers and vegetables.











Cargo B´s first 747F

Today, 6 August 2007, we proudly present the first Cargo B 747F in its new livery, fresh from the paintshop in Paris. The first 747 for Cargo B Airlines is expected to arrive at Brussels Airport during the first week of September.



Crew Uniform

We proudly present a first impression of our crew uniform. Specially designed for Cargo B Airlines by Mr. Stijn Helsen himself. Stijn is a successful, famous Belgian designer who at the age of 28, already had his own label distributed internationally. He has made tailormade suits for stars like Robbie Williams and worked with a.o. Vivienne Westwood and Valentino. It is, and will be, a great pleasure to further develop the design of our crew uniform with Stijn and his team.

Cargo B Airlines appoints GSSAs for
THE UK AND IRELAND


As part of its worldwide sales network, Cargo B has appointed two key GSSAs. Euro GSA Ltd, with offices at Manchester and LHR airports, headed by Stuart Holland and AirlineCargoServices based in Dublin whose Managing Director is Terry Crawford.

“We have great confidence that both these highly experienced GSSAs will not only establish the Cargo B brand in their respective territories, but develop strong traffic flows” commented Gerard ter Bruggen, Director Cargo at Cargo B Airlines. “Our team of GSSAs has been very successful since the start up last September and as a result we are operating with almost maximum loads on all sectors, including South America, the latest phase of our development plan.”

In due course, Cargo B will also look at other markets and destinations such as the Middle East, North America and Mexico. Brussels clearly is an ideal operational cargo hub for both import and export, with efficient road and rail connections enabling all European GSSAs to connect their cargo efficiently to the flights.

Cargo B chooses Latacunga, Ecuador

Cargo B Airlines chooses Latacunga for Flower Operations.

Cargo B is flying full from Brussels to Sao Paulo, Brazil and Latacunga in Ecuador with two weekly flights of which one also flies via Buenos Aires. Outbound cargo is a mix of industrial, automotive, telecom equipment and machinery, whilst the return loads are almost entirely flowers from Ecuador.

“The airport at Latacunga, just 120 kilometres outside Quito, is an ideal base for the flowers.” states Niek van der Weide, Executive VP Sales and Marketing. “We have set up our own cooler shed on the airport which is really helping to keep the flowers fresh for shipment to the Amsterdam market as well as to Russia. We also have the flexibility to make intermediate stops within this route structure. Last week for example we did a special delivery to Asuncion in Paraguay. Although there is a fair amount of competition on these Latin American routes, we are able to reasonable market rates and despite the spiralling fuel costs, it’s a very interesting market for us, in addition to our African flights.

From 21 March a 3rd flight will be added operating to via Sao Paulo, Latacunga and Bogota. This means the opening up of Colombia both as an important source for flowers to Europe but also for mixed cargo into Colombia. In due course, Cargo B will also look at other markets and destinations such as the Middle East, North America and Mexico. Brussels clearly is an ideal operational cargo hub for both import and export, with efficient road and rail connections as well as a global cargo flight network”.

Cargo B Airlines´ Second 747F starts operations

Following the certification and government approval on January 18th, the second aircraft from Cargo B will start flights from Brussels to Sao Paulo, Brazil and Latacunga in Ecuador on January 29th. A second weekly flight will start in early February. This aircraft is also supporting the successful Africa service operated by the first 747F.

The regular services to Libreville, Johannesburg and Nairobi started on the 14th of October with two weekly flights from Brussels. In addition to the regular African flights, the airline has operated charter flights to destinations as Cairo, Lagos, Addis Ababa and Dar es Salam. The second aircraft will provide more capacity for more such charters. In the near future, Cargo B will also look at other markets and destinations such as the Middle East, North America and Mexico.

Brussels clearly is an ideal operational cargo hub for both import and export, with efficient road and rail connections as well as a global cargo network.

Over 600 guests from the Benelux and international air Cargo industry, including members of the local and national governments, celebrated the official launch of Cargo B Airlines. The event took place on Thursday October 11th. in the Lufthansa Technik hangar at the Brussels Brucargo centre, where the first of the airline’s B747 freighters was on display.

Rob Kuijpers CEO of Cargo B opened the proceedings with a brief summary of the new airline’s position to fulfill the need for capacity at Brussels to serve niche markets on sectors such as Africa and South America. He further expressed his firm belief, shared by Cargo B’s highly motivated staff and investors, in the success of the airline’s operations.

The State Secretary of the Federal Government, Vincent Quickenborne, spoke of the importance of Brussels Airport to the country’s economy, trade and tourism and how pleased he and his colleagues in government were at the introduction of a truly Belgian cargo airline, competing on the world market. The creation of some 2000 jobs both direct and indirect was a very positive factor as well as the increase in trading activity due to the several hundreds of tons of extra cargo passing through Brussels airport each week.

The first scheduled fully laden flight departed on time on Sunday October 14th. for Libreville and Johannesburg with a mix of European sourced cargo including car parts and machinery, returning with mixed perishables including flowers. A second flight from Brussels to Addis Abeba, followed on October 16th, which was a dedicated charter on behalf of Ethiopian Airlines. Early indications show that all African flights will be fully booked in the coming weeks with Latin America operations on the horizon for the next phase. The extensive network of GSAs in strategic markets will assure the regular flow of cargo both export and import.


Rob Kuijpers start nieuw luchtvrachtbedrijf

De Nederlander Rob Kuijpers (69), voorheen topman van DHL en SN Brussels Airlines, begint een nieuw bedrijf voor luchtvracht. Hij heeft twee Boeings 747 gehuurd om vanaf oktober goederen te vervoeren. Kuijpers verwacht in april 2008 een derde toestel in te zetten. De ondernemer wil met zijn bedrijf Cargo B Airlines de ruimte gebruiken die DHL op Zaventem achterlaat na het gedeeltelijke vertrek eind dit jaar naar het Duitse Leipzig. Kuijpers, die ook in België woont, leidde van 2002 tot 2005 SN Brussels Airlines, de opvolger van Sabena. Met zijn open en onbureaucratische stijl maakte hij het bedrijf weer winstgevend en liet het fuseren met Virgin Express. (belga)

Nieuwe vrachtcarrier Cargo B Airlines van start vanaf Brussels Airport

BRUSSEL - De nieuwe Belgische vrachtcarrier Cargo B Airlines gaat vanuit Brussels Airport vrachtvluchten uitvoeren naar de belangrijkste markten wereldwijd. Cargo B Airlines staat onder leiding van voormalig SN Brussels Airlines- en DHL-topman Rob Kuijpers en heeft donderdag (8 februari) de start van de activiteiten aangekondigd. Vanaf oktober 2007 gaat de maatschappij vliegen met twee geleasde Boeing 747’s.

Cargo B Airlines gaat dagelijks vluchten uitvoeren naar belangrijke markten als het Midden en Verre Oosten, Afrika en Zuid-Amerika. Cargo B Airlines gaat vliegen onder een Belgisch Aircraft Operating Certificate (AOC) en voornamelijk Belgische werknemers in dienst nemen.

Tijdens de opstartperiode van drie maanden wordt één van beide toestellen volledig worden ingezet terwijl het tweede toestel gedeeltelijk standby blijft. Het plan is om in april 2008 een derde toestel in de vloot op te nemen.

De eerste twee Boeing 747’s zijn reeds aangekocht door 3P Air Freighters Ltd, een maatschappij speciaal opgericht om te investeren in vliegtuigen die gecontroleerd wordt door de Belgische investeringsbank Petercam NV. Vanaf 2010 wil de nieuwe vrachtcarrier deze geleasde vliegtuigen vervangen door ‘moderne, economische en milieuvriendelijke’ toestellen.

Oprichters
De oprichters van Cargo B Airlines zijn naast CEO Rob Kuijpers gezagvoerder Arno Broes (operationeel directeur) en Niek Van Der Weide (directeur sales en marketing). Voor de overige functies wordt al druk naar kandidaten gezocht om klaar te zijn voor de start in oktober 2007, aldus Cargo B Airlines.

Volgens de oprichters is Brussel door de centrale ligging ideaal als operationele vrachthub, zowel voor export als import: “Brussel beschikt niet alleen over uitstekende, snelle weg- en spoorverbindingen maar ook over een wereldwijd netwerk van internationale vluchten.”

Cargo B launches in Belgium

09-Feb-2007 : FORMER DHL chief executive Rob Kuijpers has founded a new cargo airline in Belgium.

Cargo B Airlines aims to start operations in October 2007 with two Boeing 747 freighters leased from 3P Air Freighters Ltd.

Cargo B Airlines will carry out flights to the Middle and Far East, Africa and South America. The carrier will operate with a Belgian Aircraft Operating Certificate and intends to attract a predominantly Belgian workforce.

The company plans to add a third freighter to the fleet in April 2008. Its intention is to phase out these aircraft from 2010 and replace them with newer, more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly equipment

Kuijpers, who will also act as chief executive officer of Cargo B Airlines will be assisted by co-founders Niek Van Der Weide (director sales and marketing) and Arno Broes (operations director).

Cargo B least derde B747-200F via 3P Air Freighters

BRUSSEL - De nieuwe Belgische vrachtmaatschappij Cargo B Airlines voegt een derde Boeing 747-200 Freighter aan de vloot toe. Het toestel is afkomstig van Air France Cargo en wordt geleasd via 3P Air Freighters. Naar verwachting wordt dit toestel half september als eerste in gebruik gesteld door Cargo B Airlines. In oktober volgt een tweede toestel van dit type, gevolgd door de derde in april 2008.Tijdens de eerste maanden dient één van beide toestellen als standby voor het geval er sprake is van technische problemen. Sinds de aankondiging van de oprichting van Cargo B Airlines in februari is het management druk bezig met de voorbereidingen voor de start van de operaties. De investeerders PMV, QAT and Petercam Services hebben hun kapitaalinjectie verhoogd tot twintig miljoen euro. Cargo B Airlines heeft ook de eerste routes waarop gevlogen gaat worden bekendgemaakt. Vanaf half september vliegt de maatschappij twee keer per week van Brussel naar Johannesburg, met de terugvlucht via Nairobi. Vanaf oktober volgen twee wekelijkse vluchten van Brussel naar Sao Paulo Viracopos en via Quito (Ecuador) en Bogotá (Colombia) weer terug naar België. Inmiddels is de maatschappij volop bezig met de rekrutering van personeel. Op managementniveau is Gerard ter Bruggen benoemd als Director Cargo en Dirk Vrebos als Director Operations.5 juni 2007
